He joined Showa Oil Co. on April, 1978 and started his career as a mechanical engineer in the Yokkaichi refinery, Showa Yokkaichi Sekiyu K.K. He engaged in the PV business as a system engineer in October, 1985. He is the initiator of CIS-based thin-film PV technology in Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K., which is a parent company of Solar Frontier K.K. Since 1988 including the period from 1988 to 1991 as a visiting researcher in the CIS R&D group of ARCO Solar, Inc. (then, Siemens Solar Industries) and through the NEDO Solar-PV R&D projects started in FY1993 involved as a project leader, he is the main person who has developed the manufacturing technology of CIS-based thin-film PV modules transferred successfully to the commercialization in Solar Frontier K.K.
